Liars – Your food tastes to good to be healthy!!!

May Street Larder is the latest creation from the minds that gave us Bib & Tucker. May Street’s mission is to use the best of local produce and seasonal offerings in its food. It is open for breakfast and lunch, and you can expect an array of servings from seasonal salads, to preserved meats to pastries and raw foodie treats (I  promise that was not supposed to become a rhyme).

May Street seem to have a bit of a mantra that they want to bring back ye olden ways of food preservation – fermenting, pickling, curing etc. This committment shines through in the use of these techniques in their food and drink.

If there was one word to describe May Street’s menu it would be ‘Balanced’ – there are treats a plenty, but they come hiding great nutritional value. I won’t go as far as to say it is all heavenly, but in the most part the place is full of raw, paleo and organic foods. This coupled with their wide selection of Kombucha and strong punchy Campos coffee make May Street Larder a must visit for anyone.

When we visited it was exciting to see kimchi, pastrami, relish, kefir, and pickled everything on their menu. The menu usually has something for everyone from the Cocowhip Breakfast Bowl to the Breakfast Burrito to the Toasted Cornbread. They all sounded so good we found it quite difficult to choose. Eventually we settled on a serve of the Zucchini, Lupin & Lemon Fritters and the Mushroom Bruschetta (not avail anymore). Both dishes were delicious and the portion sizes were great, just big enough that you felt well fueled to take on the day!

If you’re looking for some clean food that will allow you to indulge without the guilt, May Street Larder might just be the place you’re looking for 🙂
