Laidback, easy-going, great food and great coffee..Winning!

We have been fans of George Street Quarters for a while now. The stellar menu and great coffee always impresses, this visit was no exception.

After a few too many celebratory drinks the night before we arrived at GSQ around midday, thankfully they offer their breakfast menu well into the afternoon (3pm). We found a beautiful table for two outside in the sun, grabbed some menus and ordered some coffees – iced latte for me and a skinny latte for my significant other.

A quick scan of the menu revealed a few changes since last time, but we were heartened to see that our favourites were still front and centre.  GSQ also have a fantastic array of delightful treats in their food cabinet at the counter. This ebbs and flows with the seasonal fresh produce, it is also a thrill to see what delicacies are on offer.  I was not to be seduced and ordered the avocado, dukkah crumb, toasted seeds, lemon labne, sourdough and two poached eggs. I cannot say the same for my wife, she succumbed to a particularly attractive bacon and scrambled egg breakfast muffin from the counter. img_6341

Neither of us were disappointed (although I think my wife had a small bout of food envy when my plate arrived!). The avocado was fresh and covered with a spicy, fragrant dukkah crumb. The labne offered a great tartness when spread across the toasted sourdough. The eggs were perfectly poached and added creaminess to the dish. The yolks oozed over everything and brought the whole dish together.

When the breakfast muffin arrived I was too slow with the camera….oh well maybe next time!

Past visits have uncovered other seasonal delights such as the mushroom medley with a baked sweet potato rosti, sautéed spinach, kale & Reggiano and the avocado, pea tendrils, toasted seeds, lemon labne and sourdough.

We love this place and are always surprised with their offerings, from pitaya mango smoothie bowls to Croque-monsieur sandwiches to breakfast burritos.

If you want a lazy morning George Street Quarters offers all that you need.
