European tapas meets fresh local produce..

North Fremantle has it going on right now! The proximity of bars, restaurants and cafes is first class. A staple of this scene is Habitué. Known for it use of local produce, Habitué regularly impresses with its refined Euro / Mediterranean tapas style meals.

We have been looking for a place that offers seriously good vege eats and I think we may have found it. One hint we could give is to make sure you book and book early, we didnt and as such could only be snuck in at 8:30. No biggie, while we waited we ventured across the road to Mrs Brown Bar where we sank a few brewskis and enjoyed the setting Fremantle sun. But that is a story for another day.

Once our time arrived we headed back across the road and were seated at a lovely table in the al fresco area out front. It was beautifully lit and made it feel like we had been spirited away to an exotic location.img_6260

With some assistance from the fantastic wait staff we perused the menu and decided to try all of the Vege plates…it seemed like the right thing to do.

We started with the Broad Bean dip and Flat Bread, which was a fantastic way to whet the palate. This was then followed up in quick fire succession with the Grain Salad, Cauliflower, Zucchini, Corn and some Hand Cut Chips.  Each meal offered something different yet worked in harmony, it was like they were supposed to eaten as part of a super vege spread!

We debated on whether this would be substantial enough… it was! The portion sizes were perfect for the three of us and we were immensely satisfied by the end.

Not so satisfied that we couldn’t fit desert… and what a dessert! Blueberries with Meringue and Salted Caramel Parfait with Chocolate… Some deserts can be overwhelming with their sweetness, which is why I usually pick a cheese, this time however I was glad I didn’t! Both these desserts tasted like little plates of angels tears!

If you are looking for a place for dinner with friends or just want a one meal mini break, then I throughly recommend Habitué!!
