For those mornings when hair of the dog just won’t cut it…

The Local Hotel Garage oozes hipster chic. Industrial grunge meets recycled pop-up.  After waking from one of our more eventful Friday nights, we headed out in search of something to quiet my rumbling stomach and refresh my angered brain.

We met up with some friends and headed to the Local Hotel Garage. This place opens at 9am for Brunch and offers relief to those in self-induced suffering. We sheepishly took our seats and perused the menu. I was thrilled to see that the abstract nature of this place was also reflected in their food – Freo Sardines on Toast, Yogurt Panna Cotta & a Breakfast Parma – these are just a few of the eclectic eats you can expect to find.

I was equally delighted to discover that their coffee was dark, strong and made the way you want a coffee to be after a night of festivities. If something stronger is what you are seeking the also have a full selection of beverages to choose from!

After deliberating, we ordered a serve of the Freo Sardines, a couple of the Corn Fritters with Poached Eggs and Bacon and a Breakfast Parma.

Overall we were seriously impressed with the food. All the dishes were winners, the fritters could have been a bit crisper rather than being pancakesque, but the flavours were good.

A specific call out must be made of the Breakfast Parma – I have never had nor heard of a Breakfast Parma before, ‘Steak, Bacon, Fried Eggs, Pecorino Cheese and Peperonata’….

Literally from my first bite I know I had stumbled upon something special, this dish absolutely rocked. The steak was a good 1/4 inch thick and cooked a good meduim, the bacon was salty, crispy and layered on top of the steak, the Peperonata was lavishly slathered over everything and gave a fantastic depth of flavour that was beautifully complimented by the Pecorino Cheese which had been grilled to a crisp skin. The eggs were still gooey with the yolks oozing out to coat everything in there golden gloriousness. I was literally in heaven eating this dish and will definitely be back.

If you are in South Fremantle or a looking for a special one of a kind breakfast dish, then the Local Hotel Garage must be high on your list!
